I have a passion for the art of photography and guidance over the years has yielded strong compositional skills and an eye for capturing the moment. I switched to digital SLR photography around 5 years ago and have a broad range of experience covering fashion, portrait, low-light, events, landscape etc. Combined with life-long experience with computers, it has allowed me to be both technologically and creatively competent in many subjects.
Born in Bucks, I was educated at the Royal Grammar School and went on to study Interactive Systems at Birmingham University where I gained my MEng in 2005. The desired result of the course was to produce engineers who could design systems around the end user rather than around the architecture. This gave me usability and Human-Computer Interaction awareness which assists when designing interfaces for websites or other human-oriented systems.
My varied skillset includes a competence with software such as Photoshop, Premiere, Vegas etc. as well as confidence dealing with the hardware side of computing. All of this has given me a flexible and adaptable mind-state allowing me to confidently approach many situations.
My full-time occupation is as a Broadcast/Vision Engineer for Bow Tie Television at Westminster. This includes looking after the day-to-day coverage of proceedings in the House Of Commons, House Of Lords and Select Committees. Duties include vision control, remote Radamec camera operating, testing and maintenance of camera chains, VT, monitor line-up, web-casting etc. I have also remote camera operated/engineered the recent Iraq Inquiry coverage at the QEII Exhibition Centre and have Vision Engineered for Formula 1, GP2 Asia/Europe and many more local Outside Broadcasts at Wembley, The O2 and other locations around the UK.
